pointless rules, dumb companies.

do corporations get bored? sometimes the ideas they roll out seem to come from whimsical thought than any actual marketing endeavors. my current employer recently decided to change our uniforms(mere months after supplying us with a new set of the current style). i don’t even know why we have to have much in the way of uniform standards. we are cooks and chefs. the traditional outfitting is a white chef coat and checkered pants. in recent years though, there has been a boon in the availability of creative colors and patterns. this is so that in a typically regimented operation, the cooks and chefs can express themselves outwardly. but the tradition has still been a chefs coat and pants. why does there need to be a parity all of a sudden? market research? nope, customers don’t really care what the chef is wearing as long as he stays in the kitchen. it seems like corporate whim and meaningless money expenditures. sure, i am grateful that they supply them, but I’m a grown man, a consummate professional, i should be trusted to choose my attire accordingly. maybe more companies should trust the judgment of their employees. Americans are creative and motivated, but can easily be discouraged by useless company rules. I’m also not allowed to have a beard or goatee, and thats as stupid a rule as the uniform thing. treat us like professional adults, and we’ll treat with exceptional skill.
