Three pirates?

could we ever have a legitimate third party candidate? someone who could actually win the general election and become president of the USA? easy answer…maybe. hard answer…sure why not? we are an educated nation, with easy access to information. it wouldn’t be terribly hard to run an independent campaign and wind voters to your cause. but we are ingrained in the Republican/Democrat system. it would need to start on the local level. more local elected positions being held by alternate parties, means more exposure to the possibility. maybe a few more state senators or a governor…perhaps a full third of the House and Senate? suddenly alternate parties are becoming normal and feasible. suddenly their isn’t so much partisanship because there aren’t two strong semi-majorities. sure, there would be conflicts, but if the proof is in the pudding…alternate party candidates tend to actually care about their constituents.  i know, its a lot of idealism…but America is all about free choice, so why can’t we be free to choose an alternate party or independent president. if they can raid enough support, both voter and financial…put them on the ballet. also, we would need to do away with primaries and that sham electoral college…antiquated sham sham sham. let the popular vote actually count!
